How to Set Up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for Secure Email Deliverability

Improve your business email security and prevent spam by setting up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records. Follow this step-by-step guide to configure these records in Tenovate.

Why SPF, DKIM, and DMARC Are Important

These DNS records help verify your email’s authenticity, reducing spam and phishing risks:

  • SPF (Sender Policy Framework) – Prevents email spoofing by verifying mail servers.
  • DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) – Ensures emails aren’t altered in transit.
  • DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication) – Protects against phishing attacks by enforcing SPF and DKIM policies.

How to Set Up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC on Tenovate

1. Add an SPF Record

  • Log in to portal.tenovate.co.tz.
  • Navigate to Manage DNS > Add TXT Record.
  • Enter the following SPF record in the TXT value field:

v=spf1 include:mail.tenovate.co.tz ~all
  • Save changes and wait for DNS propagation.

2. Enable DKIM Authentication

  • Go to Email Security in your Tenovate hosting panel.
  • Enable DKIM signing and copy the generated TXT record.
  • Add the following DKIM record to your domain’s DNS settings:
v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=your_public_key_here
  • Save and allow time for propagation.

3. Configure DMARC Policy

  • Add a new TXT record with the following values:
v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; rua=mailto:admin@yourdomain.tz
  • Adjust the p value based on your preference:
    •
none
→ Only monitor emails.
    •
quarantine
→ Flag suspicious emails as spam.
    •
reject
→ Block unauthorized emails completely.
  • Save and apply changes.
